Title: Ring Relay – Hula Hoops + Flag Chase
Prepared by: Charity Helpers Foundation
Date: 2025-06-14
Version: 1.0

---

**CONCEPT SUMMARY**
Ring Relay is a dynamic tag-and-chase competition where players pass hula hoops instead of batons while avoiding defenders who aim to capture their waist flags. This combines rhythm, agility, and tactical dodging in a circular relay loop.

---

**REQUIRED EQUIPMENT**

- Hula hoops (1 per team)
- Waist flag belts (3 per player)
- Color-coded jerseys
- Cone markers for lanes and zones
- Stopwatch or round timer
- Whistle

---

**FIELD LAYOUT**

- Circular running track (40 ft diameter suggested)
- Two inner lanes for hoop relay runners
- One outer lane for defenders
- Flag reset zones at designated points

---

**PLAYER ROLES**

- 5–6 players per team
- One active runner at a time
- One defender per team in outer ring (rotating)
- Referee monitors flag captures and resets

---

**GAME OBJECTIVE**

Complete as many successful hoop passes around the ring as possible while protecting team members’ flags from being pulled by opposing defenders.

---

**BASIC RULES**

1. The runner carries the hoop and passes it to the next player in their lane.
2. Each runner must complete one full lap before passing.
3. Defenders may only tag flags—no physical contact.
4. If a runner loses all flags, their lap is void and must restart.
5. Hoop drops cost 10 seconds and must be recovered from the drop zone.
6. Game ends after a set time (e.g., 5 minutes). Most laps wins.

---

**VARIATIONS / SCALING IDEAS**

- **Double Hoops**: Two hoops in play for faster pace
- **Blind Flag Mode**: Randomly assigned fake flags to confuse defenders
- **Night Relay**: LED hoops and glow-in-the-dark flags
- **Youth Format**: Shorter track and fewer defenders

---

**STAT TRACKING SUGGESTIONS**

- Laps completed
- Flags captured
- Flags lost
- Hoop drops
- Time per lap

---

**NOTES**
Ring Relay is ideal for large fields or open gymnasiums. It encourages cardio endurance, flag tag agility, and cooperative passing. Use it as a warmup game for larger New Sport tournaments.
